The Humane Society Of Independence County is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals in our county. We rescue stray and injured animals, provide temporary care for homeless animals through foster homes and our shelter facility, and adopt homeless animals to permanent homes.

A community goal is to reduce the unwanted pet population by encouraging the spaying/neutering of all dogs and cats through education and awareness

Dependent on donations, membership dues, fundraising activities, grants, and income from the Fleaman Barkus Thrift Store

We only house dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens on site. We work with individuals to foster other animals as the need arises.
